Nintendo Video Milestones To Date (Week 1)
Nintendo Video is now one week old, and already halfway through its first video rotations. And what have we found out?
Video #1 (top left) is so far animation and music videos, custom made music videos as OK GO returns for a new song... a creepy song with the four wearing skin tight tights in light blue and rolling all over the 3DS screen... eew.
Video #2 (top right) may be comedy, which will be panned out once there is an update.
Video #3 (lower left) is movie trailers, last week being Captain America The First Avenger and this week being The Smurfs.
Video #4 (lower right)... is still a mystery. It is the slot taken ip by the 22 second Nintendo Video promo after all. Oh well.
We're in the middle of the second batch of videos, but what records have been surpassed? Well... abit if you think small... really small... really really really small.

Your 3DS has been updated to self destruct...
As of the July 25th update, your 3DS has been set to self destruct... if modded.
Modding, a common practice in the past to increase the power and capability of a system, if you had the technology and knew how, is now a dirty word. Like Region Free, Modding is the enemy... only unlike Region Free modding can cause your system to self destruct.
With the newest V2-0-4u update installed yesterday, if any attempt is made to modify the 3DS through software or hardware add-ons, the 3DS will internally fry itself to keep you from modding it.
This, apparently is rampant amongst the fearful companies scraping for your money even as they restrict your freedoms with the very sruff you paid for with your hard earned money. Microsoft's XBox360, Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PS3, already set to self destruct if modded... now add the 3DS to the list.
Thing is once you buy it? You should be able to have full control over it. It is yours, your money paid for it. It is as if you bought a car andbthe dealership told you that they reserved the right to disable it if you attempted to add a satellite radio or put in new seats or tires.
This means, conceivably, it could even make a 3DSVC program dangerous as uploading a 3DS compatible TV show or movie could be seen as an illegal software program, killing uour 3DS in response. That sucks.
Expect a full commentary from me on it in 3DS Life Episode 5 coming August 2011.

Podcast Update July 14th
Changed the end of 3DS Life Episode 4 to cover the latest news from Nintendo.
- Why Nintendo telling Operation Rainfall NO is a BAD idea.
- Why Nintendo turning around promoting Kirby after telling Operation Rainfall no is another bad idea.
- Why only Japan and Europe got a good 3D video deal, and we got the corporate shaft... again.

While the day is not yet done we have made quite abit of progress this week. On the game cast front...

Introduction is laid out, and once I wrap up this weekend's casts (well on the way to that since Multimedia Jukebox is done) I'll begin assembling this cast. Very nice.

Presenting Wii U Life, starting July 31st!
This July 31st track the coming 2012 launch of Nintendo's newest console, the Wii U, with Wii U Life.
UPDATE - Now scheduled as a monthly cast, Wii U Life follows the Wii U on its coming release mid 2012 (no doubt during the summer if not spring). Contributors welcome to join the cast.

Writing the cast is coming along, but having zero time so far to even begin assembling the cast may delay it a week. Good thing there is a cast to substitute with it in case of emergency, but lets see what we can do all the same with it all the same. Knock on wood and all that, eh?

July 2011 - Experimental Month of Minicasts
It's July 2011 and this month is an experimentation with 20 minute minicasts. Starting with the July 4th Independence Weekend casts.
The advantages of shorter casts is that it should mean more casts released in the month, as well as hopefully equal more downloads and followers... maybe. Anyway we started with Arcade Jukebox and Game As You Go, but will have a full version of the cast (both put together) out at the end of the weekend.
Later in the month we'll have more casts out of 20ish minutes, and if it works out we'll do it full time. We'll see. Updates coming shortly on the other casts.
